He lasted only two innings in his start at Detroit on Tuesday night.
Analysis: Hernandez, who is dealing with inflammation in his right shoulder, is expected to be sidelined for at least two to three weeks, MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi reported, citing a source. The 2010 American League Cy Young Award winner and six-time All-Star owns a 2-2 mark with a 4.73 ERA in five starts this season.

Analysis: Hernandez struck out five and issued his first walk of 2017 to Giancarlo Stanton in the fifth inning, ending a streak of 22 1/3 innings to open the season. Hernandez also tied Freddy Garcia for most wins by a Venezuelan-born pitcher with 156. "I knew I didn't have my best stuff today but I was going to battle and stay in as long as I can," Hernandez said.

Hernandez was looked at by trainers and threw a couple of warmup pitches before finishing the inning. Hernandez said he will make his next turn in the rotation. ''It just got a little tight,'' he said. ''I'll be all right. I'm going to be OK.''
