Analysis: The 30-year-old right-hander had surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and a torn flexor muscle in his pitching arm in New York early last month and is expected to miss 14 to 19 months. He also has an expiring contract but says he has to "get healthy first" before he can worry about that. Floyd said Sunday he'll start rehab June 17 and begin throwing in about six months. |

The team said Monday that Floyd will be out for 14-19 months - also putting next season in jeopardy. The right-hander will have the ulnar collateral ligament and a torn flexor muscle repaired Tuesday in New York. Analysis: The 30-year-old Floyd was 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA in five starts for Chicago this season before going on the disabled list April 28 with what was initially diagnosed as a flexor muscle strain. Floyd is 70-70 with a 4.48 ERA in 10 major-league seasons with the White Sox and Phillies. |
