He was injured when he fell in snow at his home in Vermont. The pitcher's agent said Monday the accident happened in mid-January. When Pavano didn't feel well after a workout in Connecticut, the 37-year-old right-hander went to a hospital and was diagnosed with a lacerated spleen. Analysis: Agent David Pepe said doctors were not able to control bleeding, and Pavano's spleen was removed last week. Pepe hopes Pavano will be released from the hospital this week. He would not put a timetable on the free agent's possible return to baseball. |

Analysis: The affidavit, first reported by the Record-Journal of Meriden, says police began investigating in December when Pavano's sister, Michelle DeGennaro, reported she got Facebook messages from 36-year-old Christian Bedard seeking money for claims she said were false. The affidavit contains the Facebook messages. Police searched Bedard's home last week. They haven't charged him. |
