AP Pro32 comments about Bears
NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Chicago Bears by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
Chris Berman (ESPN, 11) - Is it really going to disintegrate like last year?
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 12) - They're fading down the stretch for the second consecutive season.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 11)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 15) - Never saw this coming (losers of four of last five); wearing down on defense and turning it over on offense ... terrible combination.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 12) - Jay Cutler insists he'll be OK after a case of whiplash against the Vikings. Bears trust he's right. Cutler's their only hope.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 11) - Jay Cutler passed for 333 yards in the season opener, but he hasn't hit 300 yards in any game since. In six of his starts he's been under 200.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 16) - Of course, Jay Cutler is suffering from whiplash. That happens when you keep getting rear-ended by opponents.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 11) - At this rate, they'll be fortunate to grab an NFC wild-card slot.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 13) - Jay Cutler is taking the same kind of physical beating he took in the Mike Martz offense. The Bear defense has now gone seven straight games allowing a 100-yard rusher. The Bears are headed in the wrong direction.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 12) - The Bears are now banged up at the QB position and on defense. Not a recipe for success.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 11) - Having lost four of their past five games, the Bears must get on track ASAP or risk missing the playoffs entirely. Unfortunately for Chicago, Green Bay is next on the schedule.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 13) - The more passes Bears receivers drop, the more the Bears drop in the power rankings.
