AP Pro32 comments about Panthers

NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Carolina Panthers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

Chris Berman (ESPN, 21) - Superman back in win column.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 17) - Can't see a sophomore slump for Cam Newton, and Jonathan Stewart makes a big difference.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 20) - Back to what they do best. Newton, Williams and Stewart each ran for over 50 yards.

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 17) - Running the ball last week for 219 yards was key.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 15) - A week after rushing for just 10 yards, the Panthers explode for 219 against the Saints, including Cam Newton's career-high 71 yards. Nice job by the defense, too, as the Panthers pick off Drew Brees twice.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 16) - Cam Newton is becoming the quarterback for the Panthers that everyone expected Vince Young to be for the Titans - a pass-run dynamo.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 21) - The Panthers picked the right week to take on the defending Super Bowl champions. The Giants are banged up, and Cam Newton and Co. are coming off a big upset of New Orleans.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 17) - Cam Newton just served notice - he's back.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 17) - They beat a messed up Saints team this week but still need to win on the road. They get the beat up Giants at home this week on Thursday which should help them move up.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 13) - The Panthers were embarrassed in Week 1 by Tampa and played like a team that didn't like it against the Saints.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 16) - After being held to 10 rushing yards on 13 carries in a Week 1 loss at Tampa Bay, the Panthers rediscovered their offensive identity with a 221-yard explosion last Sunday against New Orleans.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 16) - Cam Newton is getting it cranked up, and that could mean the Panthers are about to take off.
