AP Pro32 comments about Dolphins
NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Miami Dolphins by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
Chris Berman (ESPN, 32) - Uh oh.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 26) - The Texans defense had its way with Ryan Tannehill, but I believe he will play better.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 31) - Have to hope that the Texans are the best team in the NFL. Might be.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 31) - Feel for Tannehill because he's not ready & they need serious help at WR.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 32) - Tough start for rookie Ryan Tannehill, who is picked off three times, fumbles a snap he didn't realize was coming. Welcome. And get ready for more.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 32) - The Dolphins got their national exposure during the summer on HBO's "Hard Knocks." There won't be much exposure this fall.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 31) - "Hard Knocks: The Season" just got started. And this time it could be tough to watch.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 32) - If Miami doesn't show some offensive spark in the home opener, thousands of empty seats will follow.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 32) - Miami just doesn't have enough playmakers to scare teams. Reggie Bush will be a 1,000-yard back but where are the receivers? The Dolphin defense held the fine Houston rushing game under 90 yards but couldn't keep Foster out of the end zone.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 32) - I like new coach Joe Philbin and QB Ryan Tannehill, but not this year.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 32) - Having entered Houston as double-digit underdogs, a 20-point loss wasn't shocking. A better gauge of exactly how awful the Dolphins are will come Sunday against visiting Oakland.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 32) - Nowhere to go but up for the Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill.
