AP Pro32 comments about Titans
NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Tennessee Titans by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
Chris Berman (ESPN, 21) - Will fall hard if Chris Johnson runs 4 yards a game.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 24) - I'd be worried about Chris Johnson. Defenses will key on him, and Titans don't have enough other options.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 21) - Chris Johnson has to find his game.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 20) - Expected more especially at home.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 28) - A quick word of advice to Jake Locker: Don't bother trying to tackle anyone. Bad things happen. Locker hurt his non-throwing shoulder tackling Patrick Chung after a fumble, but it won't be enough to keep him out of the lineup against the Chargers.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 25) - The Titans get WR Kenny Britt back this week from suspension. That alone will make Jake Locker a better quarterback in Week 2.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 23) - Uh-oh, the Titans lose one game, and there's grumbling about offensive coordinator Chris Palmer. That will happen when Chris Johnson runs for 4 yards.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 18) - It's going to be a long season in Nashville unless the Titans can get a dormant ground game going to help Jake Locker.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 21) - If they play Hasselbeck for the next few weeks they should climb up the power ratings. If Chris Johnson doesn't improve his 11 rushes for 4 yards the Titans will sink quickly.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 19) - A "wicked tough" early schedule makes it tough on this 9-7 team from a year ago especially with a strong D-Line nicked in Week 1. The Patriots made that point clear!
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 28) - Although the defense surrendered 125 yards rushing to New England's Stevan Ridley, the bigger problems are on offense. Quarterback Jake Locker is going to try and play with a separated left (non-throwing) shoulder against San Diego while running back Chris Johnson must rebound from his nightmarish 11-carry, 4-yard effort.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 23) - There is no shame in losing to the Patriots. But there is shame in losing 34-13.
