Seattle announces deal with DE Chris Clemons

RENTON, Wash. (AP) The Seattle Seahawks have officially announced their agreement on a multi-year deal with defensive end Chris Clemons, who was due to become a free agent at the end of the 2012 season.

The Seahawks announced the deal Tuesday afternoon, although terms were not released. Clemons' agent, Donal Henderson, first confirmed the sides had agreed to a new contract on Monday night.

Clemons' new deal erases the question of whether the defensive end would hold out from the start of training camp after he skipped Seattle's mandatory minicamp in June. Clemons has recorded 11 sacks in each of the last two seasons.

Seattle general manager John Schneider said in a statement that the team is pleased to reward someone who has been a "consistent difference maker since we acquired him."
