The punishment was announced Monday without disclosing details.
Analysis: Felton made the Pro Bowl last season after blocking for many of teammate Adrian Peterson's 2,097 yards rushing. He signed a three-year contract with the club in March worth as much as $7.5 million, including $2 million guaranteed. Felton bounced around with three NFL teams until breakthrough last season with the Vikings. He has been recovering from an appendectomy done two weeks ago. His suspension takes effect Saturday, and he's eligible to return Sept. 23.

Analysis: Felton was integral in Adrian Peterson's 2,000-yard season last year. Peterson had long preferred to run without a fullback in front of him. But with Felton plowing the way, Peterson racked up the second-most yards in a single season and won the league MVP award. Felton signed a new contract to return to Minnesota in the offseason.
