ESPN.com first reported that a deal between the two sides was close Saturday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of discussions.
Analysis: Kolb has six seasons of NFL experience and spent the past two injury-filled years with the Arizona Cardinals. He managed to start only 14 games in Arizona, and was released March 15. The Bills are in need of help at quarterback after releasing starter Ryan Fitzpatrick this month. Kolb has struggled with consistency. He has completed 59.5 percent of his passes, while throwing 28 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in 34 career games.

Analysis: The team's move on Friday came just ahead of the deadline for paying Kolb a $2 million roster bonus. The team paid Kolb some $20 million over two seasons after acquiring him in a trade that sent a second-round draft pick and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the Philadelphia Eagles.
