Analysis: The move was made Friday, clearing $2.5 million from the team's salary cap. Johnson started 61 of 64 regular season games after joining the Vikings as a left tackle during training camp in 2011. Johnson moved to left guard, holding down that position for the next three years. The sixth-round draft pick from Oklahoma State played in two Super Bowls in his first five NFL seasons with Indianapolis.

The people spoke to the AP on Saturday on condition of anonymity because the team has not yet announced the deal.
Analysis: Johnson has played the last three seasons with the Vikings, starting all but one game, due to an elbow injury last November. His return means the entire offensive line will be intact for a third straight year. Johnson was first signed by the Vikings during training camp in 2011. After playing the entire season at left tackle, he moved to left guard in 2012.
