Analysis: Williams says he would "be happy" to re-sign with Chicago but will look to play elsewhere if they can't reach a deal. The Bears signed the veteran receiver to a one-year contract following a disappointing run in Dallas, hoping he would rediscover some of the form that made him a Pro Bowl pick with Detroit in Mike Martz's system.

Analysis: Picked as the starter in the preseason after signing with Chicago, Williams has been hampered by drops and a groin injury that caused him to miss a game. He had four catches for 55 yards in the opener against Atlanta, sat out the following week against New Orleans and did not have a reception against Green Bay.

Analysis: Williams receives a one-year contract one day after he was officially cut by the Dallas Cowboys. A court hearing scheduled for Friday has been cancelled in connection with a lawsuit filed by the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver over an engagement ring he allegedly mailed to Brooke Daniels, a former Miss Texas, in February as part of a marriage proposal.
Analysis: Williams sued Daniels to retrieve the ring, and a hearing was slated for Friday. But court administrator Tina Gurule says the hearing has been cancelled and not rescheduled. Gurule could not confirm if the ring, valued at $76,600, had been returned to Williams. Michael Daniels told the Odessa American he was returning the ring. "I want to wash my hands of it," he told the paper. "It's just a hassle. I'll take care of my daughter. I don't need him."

In court documents, Williams says he wants 2009 Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels to return the $76,600 ring he mailed to her in February.
Analysis: Michael Daniels of Tomball told the Odessa American that Williams told his daughter he didn't want the ring back, saying he expected her to change her mind. She didn't. Daniels says he'll return the ring to avoid the legal hassle. Williams, who was a standout at Odessa Permian High and the University of Texas before starring with the Detroit Lions and Cowboys, filed the lawsuit June 30 in state district court in Odessa. He declined to comment to the American.
