The Steelers placed the 36-year-old Keisel on injured reserve Monday with a torn triceps. The 13-year veteran left in the third quarter of Sunday's 35-32 loss to New Orleans and did not return.
Analysis: Keisel, who rejoined the Steelers in August after the team initially declined to re-sign him in the offseason, had 17 tackles and one sack in 12 games for Pittsburgh. The injury likely puts Keisel's career in jeopardy. Longtime Steeler defensive end Aaron Smith suffered a torn triceps in 2010 at age 34 and played only four games in 2011 before retiring.

Keisel posted on his Twitter feed Tuesday "I am very excited to finish what I started in 2002 with the (at)steelers. Time to get to work!!"
Analysis: The Steelers decided not to re-sign Keisel in the offseason after the 35-year-old finished with four sacks in 12 games in 2013. Keisel, who turns 36 on Sept. 19, was effective when healthy last season. But with the team up against the salary cap he wasn't going to command anywhere near the $4.9 million cap number he received last year.
