He threw two interceptions, fumbled once and was sacked two times. Bortles added 29 rushing yards on four carries.
Analysis: Bortles was terrible once again in his first full game without favorite target Allen Robinson. It's going to be another long year for Jacksonville.

Analysis: Bortles wasn't asked to do much because Jacksonville's defense dominated Houston. He didn't turn the ball over and wasn't sacked, just the second time that has happened in his career.
|Sep. 6, 2017 2:12 PM PT3:12 PM MT4:12 PM CT5:12 PM ET21:12 GMT5:12 2:12 PM MST4:12 PM EST4:12 PM CT1:12 UAE (+1)17:12 ETNaN: - Bortles showed up on the injury report Wednesday with a right wrist injury. Bortles said after practice that his wrist "feels good, good to go, 100 percent."
Analysis: Bortles has started 45 consecutive games for the Jaguars, playing though several nagging injuries. Neither Bortles nor coach Doug Marrone mentioned the wrist injury during training camp or the preseason, although Marrone did say he felt like Bortles had a "tired arm" in mid-August. Bortles was briefly benched after the second exhibition, but was named the starter for the opener a week later.

The announcement Saturday morning comes two days after the Jaguars started Chad Henne in their third preseason game and a little more than a week after Marrone opened up the job up for competition.
Analysis: Bortles is 23 of 34 passing for 206 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the preseason. He played most of the second half on Thursday, finishing 12 of 16 for 125 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. He also threw an interception that was returned 48 yards and set up a touchdown in the third quarter.

He threw an interception that cornerback Zach Sanchez returned 48 yards to the Jacksonville 3-yard line.
Analysis: Bortles took the Jaguars on a 65-yard march in nine plays late in the third quarter, completing five of seven passes for 76 yards, including a 4-yard toss to Shane Wynn in the corner of the end zone. The Jags announced Friday that they have yet to decide on a starting quarterback for Week 1.

Analysis: Bortles completed 8 of 13 passes for 65 yards in a 12-8 preseason loss to Tampa Bay and headed to the sideline after four possessions that ended with punts. He missed Allen Robinson on two plays, including a woefully underthrown ball down the seam. Chad Henne figures to be the starter heading into the regular season.

Analysis: Marrone initially said Bortles was on a "pitch count," but he backtracked Monday in an effort to better explain why the team's starter seemingly got benched after throwing two interceptions in practice Sunday. Once a promising prospect, Bortles is probably not worth selecting on draft day at this point.
|May 1, 2017 9:40 AM PT10:40 AM MT11:40 AM CT12:40 PM ET16:40 GMT0:40 9:40 AM MST11:40 AM EST11:40 AM CT20:40 UAE12:40 ETNaN: - Jaguars have exercised a fifth-year option on Bortles, a move executive vice president Tom Coughlin calls a "smart business decision."
Analysis: The 2018 option is guaranteed for injury only, so the Jaguars could decide to cut Bortles if he struggles again in 2017 and avoid paying him about $18 million in the final year of his deal. If Bortles plays well and looks like a long-term solution at the all-important position, the Jaguars would work on an extension to keep Bortles in town beyond 2018. If not, they'll be in the market for a quarterback in next year's QB-rich draft.
