Analysis: The Chiefs also have one of their best defensive backs, Rashad Fenton, who missed their first two playoff games with a back injury. Fenton was third on the team with seven tackles and Mathieu had six when Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and rookie wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase torched the Kansas City defense in a 34-31 victory in Week 17. Burrow threw for 446 yards and four touchdowns while Chase caught 11 passes for 266 yards and three of the TDs. |

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after his team's 36-10 win that the Pro Bowl safety has a contusion. Analysis: The Chiefs were blowing the Steelers out at the time of Mathieu's departure, so it doesn't seem like the injury is anything too concerning. There's still a chance Mathieu gets held out of one or two of the final regular-season games to have him near full health for the playoffs. |
