Analysis: That said, the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end of the New York Giants is looking forward to the 2016 season, one that he thinks will be a better one for him. He has been training since the end of last season, lifting weights, running, exercising. A sleek new glove has replaced the club that looked like a boxing glove on his right hand, and there is a sense of optimism.

Analysis: Speaking for the first time since re-signing to a one-year contract, Pierre-Paul wasn't very specific Tuesday in discussing his hand hurt by fireworks. He did not say whether his hand dexterity has improved since the surgery, and he isn't sure what he will wear on the hand, saying he'll wait and see. The 27-year-old, who missed the first eight games last season because of the firework accident, plans to attend the Giants' off-season training sessions.

The free agent Pierre-Paul announced his intentions in a post on Instagram. He said he chose to return to the team that made him a first-round draft pick in 2010 despite interest from several other teams, including the Arizona Cardinals.
Analysis: The popular pass rusher who had 16 1/2 sacks in 2011 was limited to one sack in the final eight games last year. A July 4 fireworks accident that cost Pierre-Paul his right index finger sidelined him for the first half of the schedule and made him a laughingstock on late-night TV.

Analysis: The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Miami Dade County in Florida, alleges that Pierre-Paul's privacy was violated - as was Florida's medical records statute - by the report last summer after the player severely injured his right hand in a fireworks accident on July 4. The New York Post first reported the lawsuit Wednesday night.

Analysis: Speaking at the NFL combine Thursday, Reese said it was a miracle that Pierre-Paul played eight games last season after the accident that cost the defensive end his right index finger and damaged other fingers.
