Analysis: Baltimore general manager Ozzie Newsome Newsome said Wednesday, "Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL." Newsome says the 23-year-old McClain has been placed on the reserve/retired list. McClain signed with the Ravens as a free agent on April 12. Ten days later, he was arrested in Alabama and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

The charge stemmed from McClain writing profanity on a ticket for a window-tint violation on April 21 instead of signing his name. Circuit Clerk Jessica Hayes said Thursday municipal Judge Billy Cook Jr. dismissed the charge at the prosecution's request. She says McClain pleaded guilty to the window tint violation and paid a $182 fine.
Analysis: The former Butkus Award winner at Alabama still has other cases pending in his hometown. McClain is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court June 20 on reckless driving and no proof of insurance citations from May 2011. He also has a July 9 municipal court date on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police haven't released details, but McClain is free from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.
Analysis: McClain was previously charged in a 2011 shooting, and police arrested him in January on charges of having his car windows tinted too darkly and trying to lie about his identity. He was sentenced to jail on an assault charge after the shooting, but prosecutors later dismissed the case.

Analysis: The 6-foot-4, 259-pound McClain spent three years with Oakland after being selected eighth overall in the 2010 NFL draft. In 41 career games, he has 274 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks and one interception. He has a chance to take over for Ray Lewis, who retired after 17 seasons.

Analysis: McClain is the third player drafted in the top 10 by late owner Al Davis to be let go so far this offseason by second-year general manager Reggie McKenzie. Defensive back Michael Huff (seventh pick in 2006) and receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (seventh pick in `09) were cut last month.
