DORTMUND, Germany (AP) United States international Gio Reyna set up two goals and Borussia Dortmund opened its Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Copenhagen on Tuesday.

Dortmund, the 1997 champion that failed to advance from the group stage last season, took early control of Group G, with Manchester City playing at Sevilla later.

After Copenhagen's Carlos Zeca hit the post in the opening minute, Dortmund captain Marco Reus and Raphael Guerreiro scored in quick succession toward the end of the first half. England teenager Jude Bellingham added another late in the second half.

"We feel like we've got a bit of a point to prove in this competition, myself and the team," Bellingham said. "This is a good way to start off. ... I think we were pretty good, pretty dominant."

Reus finished off a counterattack for his 22nd goal in 57 Champions League matches, then Guerreiro completed a give and take with Reyna seven minutes later.

The 19-year-old Bellingham found the target following a series of swift passes, with the final cross coming from Reyna.

Reyna, also 19, came on as a substitute midway through the first half and provided an immediate spark.

Shortly after the break, Dortmund's reserve goalkeeper Alexander Meyer made a difficult save in his first action for the club.

Dortmund produced numerous other chances but couldn't quite find the target, while Copenhagen - which returned to the competition after a six-year absence - had a late goal annulled by the VAR for offside.

In the next round of matches, Dortmund visits City and Copenhagen hosts Sevilla.
