Appalachian State beats Western Carolina 48-27

BOONE, N.C. (AP) Marcus Cox set an Appalachian State freshman record with 215 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns as Appalachian State cruised to a 48-27 win over Western Carolina Saturday night.

Cox has 26 carries and scored three times in the first half to give the Mountaineers (4-8, 4-4 Southern Conference) a 31-0 lead midway through the second quarter in the regular season closer.

Kameron Bryant threw 10 of 16 for 186 yards and two touchdowns on the day.
