14 FCS players headed to NFL Combine

(STATS) - The "small school label" tends to put a chip on the shoulders of FCS prospects as they chase an NFL future.
This year, more players will have extra motivation because only 14 from the FCS were part of 2019 NFL Scouting Combine list of 338 invites announced Thursday. That's down 30 percent from the 20 invited to Indianapolis a year ago.
The annual pre-draft spectacle will be held Feb. 26-March 4 at Lucas Oil Stadium. All 32 NFL teams will take an up-close-and-personal look at the prospects as they go through measurements and medical examinations, psychological testing, interviews and on-field workouts.
Included from the FCS were national championship-winning quarterback Easton Stick of North Dakota State, two-time first-team All-America wide receiver Keelan Doss from of UC Davis plus a pair of Reese's Senior Bowl standouts, Delaware safety Nasir Adderley and Western Illinois defensive tackle Khalen Saunders.
The Combine is staggered into positional groups over four-day intervals, wrapping up with the much-dissected on-field workouts. This year's workout dates: running backs, offensive linemen, place-kickers and special teamers on March 1; quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends on March 2; defensive linemen and linebackers on March 3; and defensive backs on March 4.
