Stanford donor endows position in Luck's name

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) Andrew Luck's name will be a part of Stanford football long after he's gone.

The university announced Tuesday that its offensive coordinator position has been endowed by a "very generous gift" from an anonymous donor in honor of the graduating quarterback. The position will now officially be called the Andrew Luck Director of Offense.

Stanford has endowments for many positions in the athletic department, although most are reserved for head coaches and the athletic director.

Luck led the program's resurgence the past three seasons, twice finishing runner-up for the Heisman Trophy and going No. 1 overall to the Indianapolis Colts in last month's NFL draft. He will graduate with an architectural design degree in June.

Luck says it's a "huge tribute" and "a very proud legacy for me."
