Michigan St WR Arnett gets waiver to play in '12
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Michigan State wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett has been granted a waiver to play this season.
The NCAA's decision was disclosed Thursday by Spartans coach Mark Dantonio. It means Arnett won't have to sit out a season after transferring from Tennessee to be closer to his ailing father. Arnett is from Saginaw, Mich.
Arnett had 24 receptions, the second-highest total for a true freshman at Tennessee, for 242 yards and two touchdowns last year.
The NCAA previously granted Arkansas running back Broderick Green a waiver to play in 2009 without missing a season after transferring from USC to move closer to his ailing grandmother.
