NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Willie Jefferson had four sacks and Stephen F. Austin turned in its strongest defensive effort of the season, blanking Northwestern State 33-0 Saturday in the season finale for both teams.
Three of the sacks by Jefferson, a sophomore defensive end, came in the first half, when the Lumberjacks (6-5, 5-2 Southland Conference) had six of their eight for the game. They held the Demons (5-6, 3-4) to 100 yards of offense and had 16 tackles for loss.
After a scoreless first quarter, Brady Attaway found Cordell Roberson for a 42-yard touchdown that was the only score in the first half.
Stephen F. Austin's next score came on the opening possession of the third quarter. Gus Johnson scored on a 2-yard run after Fred Ford's 39-yard run had gotten the Lumberjacks to the Demons 13.
Attaway's 7-yard touchdown pass to Gralyn Crawford made it 21-0 with 6:36 left in the third quarter.
