Coastal Carolina defeats Charleston Southern 45-38
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Philip George intercepted a pass at the 1-yard line in the final minute to preserve Coastal Carolina's 45-38 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday.
The Buccaneers led 31-24 at the end of the third quarter before Coastal Carolina (6-4, 3-3 Big South Conference) scored 21 unanswered points. A 29-yard pass from Aramis Hillary to Jamie Childers put the Chanticleers ahead 45-34 with 7:11 remaining.
Charleston Southern responded with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Richard Mounce to Zachary Frazier with 3:33 remaining to trim the deficit to 45-38. After forcing a Chanticleers' punt, Charleston Southern drove to the Coastal Carolina 24 before Mounce threw the interception with 41 seconds remaining.
Aramis threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for a score to lead the Chanticleers.
Mounce passed for 397 yards and four touchdowns for Charleston Southern (0-10, 0-3), which has lost 11 in a row and 17 of 18.
