Texas State outlasts Prairie View 34-26

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) Isaiah Battle returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and Tim Hawkins scored the go-ahead touchdown with 10 minutes left to help Texas State to a 34-26 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

Texas State (6-4) jumped to a 14-0 lead on touchdown runs by Shaun Rutherford and Marcus Curry. The Panthers (4-5) scored when Jerry Lovelocke threw a touchdown pass to Spencer Nelson, and eventually took the lead 19-17 late in the third quarter on Christopher Barrick's second field goal. But Battle returned the kickoff for a score to put the Bobcats in front again.

Prairie View went ahead again 26-24 when Fred Anderson scored from 7 yards out with 13:08 to go, but just three minutes later, Hawkins scored on a 4-yard run to put the Bobcats in the lead for good.

It was the schools' first meeting since 1992.
