Dartmouth beats Harvard 24-17 to stay unbeaten

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) Quarterback Jared Gerbino had 24 rushes for 183 yards and a touchdown and Rashaad Cooper added 117 yards and a score on just 11 carries as Dartmouth remained undefeated with a 24-17 victory over Harvard in Ivy League play on Saturday.

It was Dartmouth's first victory over Harvard in 15 years and its first win against the Crimson at home in 25 seasons. Dartmouth's win sets up an Ivy League showdown with unbeaten Princeton next week in New Jersey.

The Big Green (7-0, 4-0) used just two plays and 18 seconds to grab a 7-0 lead when Cooper raced 82 yards for a touchdown, the 8th longest run in Dartmouth history. Dartmouth stretched its lead to 14-0 in the first quarter on D.J. Terry's 62-yard fumble-return touchdown. The Big Green upped their advantage to 21-0 at halftime when Gerbino scored on a 20-yard run.

The Crimson (4-3, 1-3) got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on Aaron Shampklin's 7-yard run to pull within 21-7. Connor Davis kicked a 28-yard field goal to put Dartmouth up 24-7 with 9:34 left to play. Tom Stewart's 22-yard TD run and Jake McIntyre's 28-yard field goal pulled Harvard within a touchdown, but Gerber had a 9-yard run on third-and-4 to allow the Big Green to run out the clock.

Stewart completed 24 of 42 passes for 270 yards and ran for 76 yards on 11 carries for the Crimson.

Dartmouth gained 320 of its 369 yards of offense on the ground.
