Indiana State fends off Missouri State 28-20

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) Shakir Bell ran for 206 yards and two touchdowns to lead Indiana State past Missouri State 28-20 on Saturday.

Both of Bell's scores came in the first half, giving the Sycamores (6-4, 4-3 Missouri Valley) an early 14-0 lead.

The Bears (1-9, 1-6) got on the board late in the half with a pair of field goals by Austin Witmer. Then after the break, they came within 14-13 when Trevor Wooden threw to Chris Douglas for a touchdown.

That was as close as the Bears could get. The Sycamores pulled ahead 28-13 on a touchdown pass from Ronnie Fouch to Donald Spencer, followed by a short scoring run by Ben Obaseki.

Wooden's touchdown pass to Jermaine Saffold with 1:39 left became the final score. Wooden led the game in passing, completing 10 of 22 tries for 136 yards.

Fouch threw 8 for 18 for 90 yards.
