UNC Asheville coach leaves for UNC Wilmington

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) UNC Asheville says longtime basketball coach Eddie Biedenbach has resigned to take a job on UNC Wilmington's staff.

Biedenbach said in a statement issued by UNC Asheville on Tuesday that it was difficult to leave the school. But he said he has long felt that if a vacancy ever opened at either UNC Wilmington or North Carolina State, he would have interest in pursuing it.

Biedenbach will be an assistant to UNC Wilmington coach Buzz Peterson.
