UMass upends Florida State 75-69

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) After watching his Massachusetts Minutemen fall to Notre Dame on Saturday, coach Derek Kellogg couldn't help but wonder how his team would bounce back on Sunday against Florida State.

Kellogg left Mohegan Sun Arena feeling much better after Jabarie Hinds and Trey Davis combined to hit five of six free throws in the final 29.4 seconds as UMass (4-1) held on for a 75-69 victory in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic.

"I feel pretty good," Kellogg said. "Just coming away and gutting out a win today is great for the team and the program. It gives us a little bit of confidence going back-to-back. It also let us know there are some other guys on the roster that can do some things. My job is to facilitate and get those guys some more balls."
