COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) Jake Layman scored a career-high 27 points and Evan Smotrycz had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Maryland beat crosstown foe Morgan State 89-62 Friday night.
After capturing the Paradise Jam title in the Virgin Islands, the Terrapins (5-2) rolled to their fourth straight victory. Maryland shot 62 percent from the floor and converted 13 of 20 attempts from beyond the arc.
Layman led the way, making nine of 12 shots and going 7 for 10 from 3-point range. Layman, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, eclipsed his previous career highs of 20 points and four 3s.
