MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) DeMarcus Robinson scored 21 points as Alabama State withstood a Chicago State comeback to win 79-75 Monday night in the Global Sports Invitational.
After being tied at 29 going into half time, the Hornets (3-2) went on a 10-0 run to start the second half. Brandon Graham scored five of his eight points during the run. The lead would stay around 10 until later in the game.
Trailing 71-60, the Cougars (2-3) made their move, going on a 7-0 run and cut the lead to four with 55 seconds left. Chicago State's frantic comeback got the score got as close as 77-75, but Alabama State was clutch at the line, hitting all six of their attempts in the final 20 seconds.
