UMBC's 2nd-half shooting beats Hartford 69-62

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Ryan Cook scored 24 points and Brian Neller added 20 Saturday as Maryland-Baltimore County upset Hartford 69-62 in the America East Conference quarterfinals with a blazing second-half shooting display.

The sixth-seeded Retrievers (8-22) shot 78.9 percent (15 of 19), the second best ever in a half at the America East tournament. Their 85.7 percent (18 of 21) in the second half of a 2006 tournament win over Stony Brook stands as the record.

Cook made his first six shots in the second half to help UMBC take a 38-35 lead with 13:26 remaining after it trailed 32-24 early in the half.
