Michael Gbinije transferring from Duke
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Backup swingman Michael Gbinije (BINN'-uh-zhay) is transferring from Duke.
School officials announced Gbinije's departure Monday. The native of Chester, Va., averaged 1.7 points and 0.8 rebounds in 19 games as a freshman. His highest-scoring game came in December when he had eight points against UNC Greensboro.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski calls Gbinije "a talented player with a solid future ahead of him."
Duke says he's leaving in good academic standing and is expected to transfer to another Division I school.
