Western Illinois tips Oral Roberts 54-53 in Summit
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) Terell Parks' jumper with 26 seconds left boosted Western Illinois to a 54-53 upset of top-seeded Oral Roberts in the Summit League tournament semifinals Monday night.
Western Illinois (18-13) earned its first trip to the conference championship game in 15 years. The Leathernecks will face second-seeded South Dakota State, which beat Southern Utah 63-47 in the second semifinal.
Parks led the fourth-seeded Leathernecks with 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Ceola Clark scored 11 points, and he and Jack Houpt sank three 3-pointers apiece.
Oral Roberts was up 49-41 with 8:03 left. But after Morrison made two free throws for a 53-48 lead with 4:03 to go, the Golden Eagles went scoreless the rest of the way.
Obi Emegano's basket and two free throws cut Western Illinois' deficit to 53-52 with 1:22 left, setting the stage for Parks' winner.
