Northeastern beats William & Mary 57-49

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Quincy Ford scored 18 points to lead Northeastern past William & Mary 57-49 Friday night in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

Ford also grabbed seven rebounds, tallied three steals and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for the No. 7-seeded Huskies (14-16), who play No. 2 seed VCU Saturday in the quarterfinals. Jonathan Lee added 11 points and Joel Smith had 10.

The Huskies opened on a 20-10 run and held on for a 25-22 halftime edge. They outscored the Tribe 32-27 in the second half to seal it.

The Tribe edged the Huskies in overall shooting 39.6 percent (19 of 48) to 34 percent (16 of 47), but Northeastern was 20 of 33 (60.6 percent) at the foul line compared to just a 5 of 10 (50 percent) showing for the No. 10-seeded Tribe.

Tim Rusthoven had 12 points to pace William & Mary (6-26).
