UNC Asheville dominates Charleston Southern 91-64
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) J.P. Primm, Chris Stephenson, and Jeremy Atkinson combined to score 64 points as UNC Asheville dominated Charleston Southern 91-64 on Thursday night in the Big South Conference tournament semifinals.
Primm finished with 27 points. Atkinson, who had 19, knocked down all 11 of his free throw attempts and Stephenson chipped in with 18 while recording three blocks, steals and assists.
UNC Asheville (23-9) led 26-21 before using an 18-10 run over the next seven minutes to take a 44-31 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs never looked back, taking a 24-point lead behind two Stevenson free throws and pushed that lead to 30, 79-49, with 8:39 left to play.
The Bulldogs outscored Charleston Southern 34-16 in the paint and turned 18 Buccaneer turnovers into 30 points. UNC Asheville converted 28 of 30 free-throw attempts, including 21 in the second half.
Saah Nimley led Charleston Southern (19-12) with 20 points.
