Jacksonville State beats Austin Peay 75-70 in OVC
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Brian Williams sank a 3-pointer with 33 seconds left and then tacked on a fast-break basket to help Jacksonville State beat Austin Peay 75-70 Wednesday night in the Ohio Valley Conference first round.
Williams scored all 18 of his points in the second half, including the trey that gave the seventh-seeded Gamecocks (15-17) a 72-70 lead over the sixth-seeded Governors (12-20).
The Gamecocks, who have won nine of their last 12, have won only one other OVC tournament game (2006).
The Gamecocks came into the game 1-17 against Austin Peay, which beat Tennessee this season.
