Georgia Southern defeats UNC Greensboro 83-69
STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) Ben Drayton scored 19 points and Georgia Southern pulled away late in the game for an 83-69 victory over UNC Greensboro in a Southern Conference game Saturday night.
Jelani Hewitt added 12 points for the Eagles (14-12, 12-4), including six during a 10-0 run that lifted Georgia Southern from a 46-39 deficit to a 49-46 lead with 13:10 remaining.
Georgia Southern led the rest of the way, gradually increasing its lead until it reached double figures, 66-55, on two free throws by Drayton with 5:31 left.
The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eagles and ended their streak of four straight losses to the Spartans (12-16, 10-6). UNC Greensboro had its three-game winning streak snapped.
