Saint Joseph's pulls away from Massachusetts 73-62
PHILADELPHIA (AP) Carl Jones scored 17 points and Saint Joseph's pulled away from Massachusetts in the second half for a 73-62 win Saturday night, splitting the season series.
Trailing 34-32 with 16:17 remaining, the Hawks (16-10, 6-5 Atlantic 10 Conference) rattled off 14 straight points.
After Saint Joseph's extended the lead to 16 with 3:16 remaining, the Minutemen (18-7, 7-4) used a 9-0 run to pull within seven, but could get no closer.
Saint Joseph's, which ranked second in the league in field goal percentage defense and 21st nationally (39.3 percent), held the Minutemen to 33.8 percent shooting (24 of 71).
