Bryant defeats St. Francis (Pa.) 59-56, ends skid
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) Alex Francis scored 23 points and Bryant defeated St. Francis (Pa.) 59-56 on Saturday, snapping a 12-game losing streak.
The Bulldogs (2-13, 1-3 Northeast Conference) trailed 47-40 with 6:38 remaining before scoring 10 straight, sparked by Corey Maynard. Maynard scored all five of his points during the spurt, including a layup to put Bryant ahead 50-47 with 4:31 remaining.
St. Francis (3-12, 2-2) trailed the rest of the way. Bryant went 4 for 4 from the free-throw line and the Red Flash missed a free throw and a 3-pointer in the final minute.
Claybrin McMath added 13 points for Bryant, which outrebounded the Red Flash 41-34, and outscored them 16-2 on second-chance points. The Bulldogs scored 19 points off 12 turnovers.
