Vermont beats Fairleigh Dickinson 71-53, ends skid

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) Luke Apfeld led four double-figure scorers with 14 points for Vermont, which defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 71-53 on Wednesday night.

Brendan Bald and Four McGlynn added 13 points each and Matt Glass chipped in 11 for the Catamounts (5-7).

Apfeld was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line and Vermont shot 44.6 percent from the field (25 of 66).

The Knights were held to 38.4-percent shooting in the first half (10 of 26), including going just 1 of 6 from 3-point range (16.7) as Vermont took a 35-23 halftime lead.

Vermont scored 26 points off 23 turnovers, and outscored the Knights 25-13 off the bench. Vermont scored 18 of their points off turnovers in the first half.

Kinu Rochford led Fairleigh Dickinson (1-9) with 13 points. Melquan Bolding added 12 and George Goode and Mouhamed Lo chipped in 11 points each for the Knights, who lost their seventh straight.
