Central Florida defeats Old Dominion 61-53
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Keith Clanton scored 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lift Central Florida to a 61-53 victory over Old Dominion on Saturday.
Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, added 17 points for the Knights (8-2).
Kent Bazemore led the Monarchs (5-5) with 16 points and Dimitri Batten added 12.
UCF broke open a back-and-forth game with a 12-2 surge late in the second half. Dwight McCombs started the run with a dunk and Clanton finished it with a 3-pointer that just beat the shot clock and gave UCF a 48-37 lead with 6:37 left in the game.
Old Dominion, which struggled with its shooting the entire game, never got closer than five the rest of the way.
In a first half dominated by missed shots and turnovers, Old Dominion shot just 27.6 percent in the frame but still led 19-15 thanks to nine turnovers by UCF.
