UC Riverside stuns Montana State 75-73

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) Robert Smith's 3-pointer with 1 second to play lifted UC Riverside to a 75-73 win at Montana State on Sunday.

The Bobcats led 73-69 with 14 seconds left, but Kevin Bradshaw scored and was fouled with 5 seconds to play for the Highlanders (3-5). Bradshaw missed the free throw, leaving Riverside two points behind, but Smith got the rebound and made the 3-pointer.

Phil Martin, who led the Highlanders with 25 points and 10 rebounds, added a free throw after a Montana State foul to close the scoring. Smith scored 14 points and Kareem Nitoto added 12 for Riverside.

Xavier Blount led Montana State (5-4) with 21 points, including a pair of free throws that gave the Bobcats a 73-69 lead with 23 seconds to play. Mohammed Fall added 13 points and Jamie Stewart scored 10 for Montana State, which scored 40 of its points at the free-throw line.
