OXFORD, Miss. (AP) Murphy Holloway scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Mississippi easily beat Grambling State 69-39 on Monday night.
The 6-foot-7 Holloway shot 7 of 11 from the field and grabbed four offensive rebounds. Freshman Aaron Jones added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The game was a blowout within minutes. Ole Miss (2-0) scored the first 10 points and was ahead 17-1 just five minutes into the game. The Rebels extended the lead to 47-17 by halftime despite shooting just 1 of 12 from 3-point range. They were just 2 of 26 on 3-pointers for the game.
The poor shooting continues a disturbing early-season trend. Ole Miss is shooting just 7 of 52 (13.5 percent) from 3-point range in two games.
Dundrecous Nelson scored nine points while Nick Williams and Terrance Henry added eight each.
Ole Miss starting forward Reggie Buckner didn't play because of "conduct detrimental to the team." Coach Andy Kennedy didn't elaborate on Buckner's suspension, but said the 6-foot-8 junior would travel with the team when it goes to the Virgin Islands later this week for the Paradise Jam.
The Rebels open with Drake on Friday and play either Marquette or Winthrop on Sunday.
Buckner is the school's all-time leader in blocked shots. He had six points, 10 rebounds and one block in the season opener against Louisiana Monroe.
Grambling (0-2) dressed just seven players. Demetri Wheeler led the Tigers with 12 points off the bench while Rondale Livas added nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The Tigers shot just 14 of 50 (28 percent) from the field and had 18 turnovers.
Ole Miss is now 33-0 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Rebels outscored Grambling 48-10 in the paint.
